Innovation kitchen Starting about a week ago, the Innovation Kitchen at the Hub is going to be open until midnight! After many complaints from students about late night options after night classes or rehearsals, the dining team finally decided to extend the hours on innovation kitchen form 8pm to midnight, it's a large jump but no one is complaining. They currently have the Mac and cheese bar and I have to say, it was a good move to extend the hours. I see a ton of students in that line around 10 pm after a long day. Purchase students look forward to more improvements to the dining services here on campus.

Pancake Madness! Pancake Madness was recently annoyed to be on December 7th from 10 pm to 12 am. This semester's theme is Proud Family, a student drew up a design and won so all the t shirts will that design on them. Backtracking a bit, pancake madness is an event that the dining hall holds every semester with a different theme each time drawn and submitted by the students. It is a free event, not the cost of a meal where they provide tons of good food and pastries. Along with a Photo Booth and games, each semester tops the last, it is a great was to end the semester this time around!

Thanksgiving break Suny Purchase campus stayed open through Thanksgiving break for students who couldn't/didnt go home only requesting a simple form to fill out stating that you will be in the room. Despite this, all dining areas were closed and the local loop stopped running at about 10 am, Wednesday morning. Students that were on campus were unable leave campus without a car for days at a time with no dining services offered. For students like myself who had to go home on Wednesday, as I said the loop stopped running at 10 am making it very difficult for students to make it. Purchase is one of the least accommodating schools according to students and online results.

Grad Expo There was a Grad Expo held on campus where a few grad schools came with their pamphlets and free merch to talk to graduating students about their after college plans. Surprisingly there were a lot of non-graduating students there just looking for some information to pre plan. Though no one can apply for or really do anything until graduation happens and they get their officially but this was great for getting some schools in mind. Suny Cortland was one of the schools showing off their grad programs, multiple students stopped off there for some information, this event was a success as far as these grad students are concerned. Graduating students got their useful information and some free pens and beer cozies.

EverFi! EverFi is an online assessment that is presented to Purchase students via email. There are two sections, alcohol abuse and sexual assault. Two assessments that you are supposed to complete by a certain date but after doing it semester after semester, it's got a few students tired of it. After speaking to a few students who have received the emails about late EverFi courses, they have stated " I don't need this, its really not helpful" and "its useless, it doesn't prove anything and it takes forever." Some students have expressed concern that not completing it will result in longterm trouble but others don't seem to care. It has been noted that there are multiple students gradating this semester that haven't completed their EverFi and haven't received penalties at all. This doesn't mean that every student will have to same experience but it doesn't shed some light on that situation.

Selling outside the hub Purchase college is an open campus, relatively anyone can come on campus and sell their items . Firstly it is students territory, they come out and sell. Ranging from their old clothes all the way to handmade items, small businesses create a little station outside the hub often. Today I saw 2 girls separate businesses but friends, sitting together with all of their handmade items. One of them was selling crocheted items and the other, handmade jewelry. They said that they come out here as often as possible when their schedules allow it. They compete with someone older people who don't go here seeing records and clothes, they expressed that they wish non college students wouldn't do that because it takes the attention away from starving artists. Go check out the students who sell!

Advising week Advising week ins upon us at Purchase college, this week is between Monday, November 6th to Friday November 10th. Within this week, advisors urge students to make advising appointments to create schedules for the upcoming registration for next semester. They ask that students come in with two ready made schedules, one that is ideal and one backup and the advisors role in this meeting is to confirm or deny that the schedule works. They could revise and explain the future semesters classes and what would be good to take now. This week is very important for students since scheduling is very difficult especially for upperclassmen who are thinking about how on track they are. The advisors can tell you that so everyone should make their appointment.

Stood Flea Suny Purchase has an event called "The Stood Flea" every other Sunday at our student center. Students who have small businesses come out for this and sell their items! Other students can come out to support these businesses. This past Sunday, the 29th, they held “The Holloweekend Stood Flea” in celebration of Halloween. There were many salespeople. Jewelry makers, crocheters and bakers galore, the students shopping around were excited and “afraid of draining their bank accounts”. Rachel Skennion (@hook_and_brush on instagram) is a handmade crochet and art items business owner. She recently started her business though she has been working on building her skills for years now. “I'm a theater and performance major so as you can imagine i love being creative and coming up with new projects so when i found out that i could sell on campus, i took it up immediately” Skennion stated. The stood flea is an easy way to make sure these students get the atten...
