Employees at Starbucks !
I sat down with Kelly, a Starbucks employee, after asking a few questions regarding the outcome of this change in payment system. The reflection on the employees when the students are outwardly angry. Kelly's response to my question of backlash against the staff about the change in payment was “The change of meal plans has been talked about a plethora among both employees and students. The discontinuation of meal plans has definitely slowed down the numbers of students at starbucks and the number of rushes we have had. Some students have expressed frustration with the discontinuing of meal plans” She expressed a frustration herself with being a student as well, understanding the anger of the students.
Kelly's response to my question of how this has personally affected them was as stated” My work has been affected by this. Since we don't take meal plans, we have less work and rush to do. Because of this, hours are starting to be cut, both for me and my coworkers. I have beenasked to change shifts and to cut shifts as well.” This has affected her and her co workers, money wise and time wise. They have had instances where they needed more shifts but were simply not allowed, everything changed from last year for the worst.
After asking for any additional information from Kelly, I got a good statement such as “ Additionally, this new system has made things a tad bit more stressful. We aren't used to how different the labels are, compared to when we used to write everything on the cups. Because of this, we tend to mess up more than we normally do, which is frustrating both as an employee and as a customer.” This information is helpful to the customers, when they don't receive their correct orders, there's a reason. Though the customers are now paying money or flex and getting incorrect orders, workers like Kelly are working twice as hard to fix it and make everything run smoothly. As of right now this employee does not know of any talk of changing it.
Your story was very well written. I think you can cut down a couple parts "I got a good statement such as" like this one. Also make sure to refer to people by first and last name the first time you mention them, then refer to them by last name.
